5′-tiRNA-Gln inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma progression by repressing translation through the interactionwith eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-I

Frontiers of Medicine 2023, Volume 17, Issue 3,   Pages 476-492 doi: 10.1007/s11684-022-0966-6

Abstract: In HCC cells, 5′-tiRNA-Gln overexpression impaired the proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and in vivo, while 5′-tiRNA-Gln knockdown yielded opposite results. 5′-tiRNA-Gln exertedits function by binding eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-I (EIF4A1), which unwinds complex RNA secondaryG-quadruplex structure is crucial for 5′-tiRNA-Gln to strongly bind EIF4A1 and repress translation.Collectively, these findings reveal that 5′-tiRNA-Gln interacts with EIF4A1 to reduce related mRNA binding

UI layers merger: merging UI layers via visual learning and boundary prior Research Article

Yunnong CHEN, Yankun ZHEN, Chuning SHI, Jiazhi LI, Liuqing CHEN, Zejian LI, Lingyun SUN, Tingting ZHOU, Yanfang CHANG

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 3,   Pages 373-387 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200099

Abstract: With the fast-growing graphical user interface (GUI) development workload in the Internet industry, some work attempted to generate maintainable front-end code from GUI screenshots. It can be more suitable for using user interface (UI) design drafts that contain UI metadata. However, fragmented layers inevitably appear in the UI design drafts, which greatly reduces the quality of the generated code. None of the existing automated GUI techniques detects and merges the fragmented layers to improve the accessibility of generated code. In this paper, we propose UI layers merger (UILM), a vision-based method that can automatically detect and merge fragmented layers into UI components. Our UILM contains the merging area detector (MAD) and a layer merging algorithm. The MAD incorporates the boundary prior knowledge to accurately detect the boundaries of UI components. Then, the layer merging algorithm can search for the associated layers within the components' boundaries and merge them into a whole. We present a dynamic data augmentation approach to boost the performance of MAD. We also construct a large-scale UI dataset for training the MAD and testing the performance of UILM. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the best baseline regarding merging area detection and achieves decent layer merging accuracy. A user study on a real application also confirms the effectiveness of our UILM.

Hong Huang, Zhexue Chen, Xuanhua Shi, Chenxu Wang, Zepeng He, Hai Jin, Mingxin Zhang, Zongya Li,honghuang@hust.edu.cn,chenzhexue@hust.edu.cn,xhshi@hust.edu.cn,wangchenxu@hust.edu.cn,hezepeng@hust.edu.cn,hjin@hust.edu.cn,mingxinzhang@hust.edu.cn,lzy901014@sina.com

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 11,   Pages 1443-1457 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000689

Abstract: As one of the early outbreak areas, China attracted the global news media’s attention at the beginning of 2020. During the epidemic period, Chinese people united and actively fought against the epidemic. However, in the eyes of the international public, the situation reported about China is not optimistic. To better understand how the international public portrays China, especially during the epidemic, we present a case study with big data technology. We aim to answer three questions: (1) What has the international media focused on during the period? (2) What is the media’s tone when they report China? (3) What is the media’s attitude when talking about China? In detail, we crawled more than 280 000 pieces of news from 57 mainstream media agencies in 22 countries and made some interesting observations. For example, international media paid more attention to Chinese livelihood during the period. In March and April, “progress of Chinese vaccines,” “specific drugs and treatments,” and “virus outbreak in U.S.” became the media’s most common topics. In terms of news attitude, Cuba, Malaysia, and Venezuela had a positive attitude toward China, while France, Canada, and the United Kingdom had a negative attitude. Our study can help understand China’s image in the eyes of the international media and provide a sound basis for image analysis.

Wideband circular-polarized transmitarray for generating a high-purity vortex beam Correspondence

Liangjie QIU, Xiuping LI, Zihang QI, Wenyu ZHAO, Yuhan HUANG,xpli@bupt.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 6,   Pages 927-934 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200539

Abstract: In this correspondence, a wideband circular-polarized (CP) transmitarray (TA) in the Ka-band is presented for generating a high-purity vortex beam. The proposed element is composed of two identical combinations separated by an air layer. The subwavelength structure and double-resonance characteristics ensure the stable phase shift of the element within the 1-dB transmission bandwidth of 28.4%. A square aperture TA fed by a horn antenna is fabricated and measured. Owing to the honeycomb arrangement of elements, the mode purity of l=−1 is >0.93 in a wide band from 28.5 to 38 GHz. The measured peak gain is 22.3 dBic, and the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth is 27.6%. The performance of the proposed antenna demonstrates its potential for high-capacity wireless communication and high-quality radar imaging.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 8,   Pages 1119-1266 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900210

Abstract: (CKD) is a widespread renal disease throughout the world. Once it develops to the advanced stage, serious complications and high risk of death will follow. Hence, early screening is crucial for the treatment of CKD. Since ultrasonography has no side effects and enables radiologists to dynamically observe the morphology and pathological features of the kidney, it is commonly used for kidney examination. In this study, we propose a novel convolutional neural network (CNN) framework named the to screen CKD based on images. This introduces a texture branch into a typical CNN to extract and optimize texture features. The model can automatically generate texture features and deep features from input images, and use the fused information as the basis of classification. Furthermore, we train the base part of the network by means of , and conduct experiments on a dataset with 226 images. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, achieving an accuracy of 96.01% and a sensitivity of 99.44%.

Effective regeneration of thermally deactivated commercial V-W-Ti catalysts

Xuesong SHANG, Jianrong LI, Xiaowei YU, Jinsheng CHEN, Chi HE

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2012, Volume 6, Issue 1,   Pages 38-46 doi: 10.1007/s11705-011-1167-z

Abstract: An effective method for the regeneration of thermally deactivated commercial monolith SCR catalysts was investigated. Two types of regenerated solutions, namely NH Cl (1 mol/L) and dilute H SO (0.5 mol/L), were employed to treat the used catalyst. The effects of temperature and the regeneration process on the structural and textural properties of the catalysts were determined by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, N adsorption/desorption, elemental analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results suggest that the anatase phase of the used catalyst is maintained after exposure to high temperatures. Some of the catalytic activity was restored after regeneration. The catalyst regenerated by aqueous NH Cl had a higher activity than that of the catalyst treated by dilute H SO . The main reason is that the NH generated from the decomposition of NH Cl at high temperatures can be adsorbed onto the catalyst which promotes the reaction. The aggregated V O were partially re-dispersed during the regeneration process, and the intrinsic oxidation of ammonia with high concentrations of O is a factor that suppresses the catalytic activity.
